Toxic haze from Indonesia spreads to Malaysia and Philippines as wildfires rage

Millions of people in Sumatra and Kalimantan, the Indonesian portion of Borneo island, have been exposed to toxic haze from the fires. Haze has been reported across the region including Malaysia and the Philippines. Thousands of people in Indonesia have been admitted to hospital with respiratory infections. Cloud-seeding and firefighting aircraft operations have been complicated by the thick haze.
